Install Hughes F1 Airgap Kit on Van? - Leaky Plenum
HUG 5409 - HUGHES - FI AIRGAP KIT
Direct replacement for all emission controlled OBDII equipped Magnum trucks (Most 5.2 or 5.9). And it eliminates the leak-prone plenum plate!Has anyone installed one of these Hughes kits on a Ram Van? My 2000 5.2L is burning oil, probably the leak-prone plenum plate. This would solve that forever, add horsepower, and save on gas. Over $5 a gallon - It'll pay for itself if it fits...
They have been used on the trucks mainly. Being a van really doesn't change anything other than access. You will lose some torque down low.
Another option is to just fix the plenum plate. Once done correctly you should not have any further problems.

Air Gap moves the power band up a couple hundred RPM, so, yeah, you lose some low-end torque.... and gain it in the upper RPM range. Not exactly where a Van needs it.
If you do the plenum plate, and a GOOD gasket, with shorter bolts, that will also solve the problem permanently.
They sell it with there chap gaskets and the fel pro ones. Probably cheaper to get the gaskets separately. Use loc tight and lock washers on the bolts and it will be fixed for as long as you own it. Mine has been on for over ten years with no issues.
