Default Passenger side seat to far back

I have a 1995 Dodge Ram 2500 camper van. The front passenger seat is about 8-10 inches further back than the driver seat. Is this the way they come from the factory? My wife finds it quite awkward. I am thinking of remounting it forward a bit. Is that a mistake?

Is it just slid all the way back on the guides? So far as I know, they were all mounted pretty much the same, regardless of where it ended up at. (conversion van or not...)

Even all the way forward it is still very far back. 8-10 inches. I think someone moved it to accommodate a large passenger.

I would think there would be obvious marks in the carpet from that exercise.... The seat mount should be parallel to the drivers seat. Is it?

No it is not. I will look to see if there are holes for another mounting location. I just didn't know if this was done at the factory for a reason. Thanks!
