Default Rear Differential Oil Change Questions (2001 Ram Van 1500 5.2)

If I have any of this incorrect can someone let me know, also any advice is appreciated before I start, thank you! Mainly do I need the friction modifier additive and what kind of RTV?

RTV - What kind?
Friction modifier - Needed?
Oil - 75W90 synthetic
Capacity - 3 quarts
Torque - 30 ft-lb

If you get a good gasket, you don't need RTV. If you use RTV (black is my preference), don't use a gasket. Put a fairly thick bead of RTV down, let it skin over, (15 minutes? Maybe less, depends on weather) then torque the cover down. Let it set for an hour, then refill.

Friction modifier is only needed if you have a limited slip rear diff. There *might* be a tag on the diff that says so, but, just because it ain't there, doesn't mean ya don't have one. If you run your VIN here, (case sensitive, all caps please) it'll tell ya everything your van came with from the factory. No LSD, no need for friction modifier.
