Hello, I have a 1980 Dodge B200 Van with what I'm told is a 360 engine (thought it was 318 when I bought, but that's neither here nor there for this post). I was under the hood this morning getting him ready for the season and I see some sort of drippage on top of the power steering pump. It was very hard and gummy. I tracked it upwards and found this square blue box with that same stuff running out of it, also hard and gummy. No idea what it could be dripping, because this really looks like some sort of electrical part - unless something's gone seriously awry and whatever is inside has melted and the part is not really doing anything. Could it be a horn relay? Horn's not working, but van seems to be running normally. If anyone can ID this for me I will visit my nearest parts supplier and see what's what.
What I'm thinking that might be is one of the old school voltage regulators or ignition boxes. Not that well versed. If stuff is dripping out of it then it needs replacing as it's getting hot. Looks like the wire is melting too unless that is just something on the outside of the wire.
hehe yeah I've exhausted local bone yards and haven't had any luck. Came close, but they changed the connector on the one I found so it wouldn't fit for me. I'll just unplug and see what happens. Thanks!
