5.9 Intake Bolts
Are there any tricks to not breaking off intake manifold bolts? Go slow? Hit 'em with an impact? Soak in penetrant? Give 'em a quick turn to the right before loosening? Heat 'em? Hit 'em with a hammer?
Also, is there a consensus on which bolts to use as replacements? Mopar, vs Felpro, vs ???
Thank you kindly for the free advice!

They break. Especially the ones at the frontmost, and rearmost holes. They actually stick out into the world, and collect a bunch of crap on the ends of the bolts.... They generally break pretty far up though, so, If they DO break, once the intake is off, clean out the hole the bolt goes into, soak it with penetrating fluid, (I used PB Blaster, works great) grab 'em with a pair of vice-grips, (nice and tight....) and wiggle them back and forth while tapping on the end of the bolt with a hammer. Once it breaks loose, they will spin right out.
I've been pretty fortunate I guess as I haven't had any break on me in awhile. I used to. I use a Milwaukee impact and sometimes set it to the weak setting and just let it rattle for awhile. Maybe it helps, maybe not.
That's helpful! I was thinking the same thing. A little impact would probably go a long way in this case.
Luckily my van is a California vehicle, so not a rust bucket. I'm feelin' lucky.
