when it fails - I guess it fails closed?

my brake lights are stuck on after going out to dinner...I had to disconnect the positive cable since it is dark now and nothing is open

 

They have a couple failure modes, and yep, that's one of 'em.....

 

my aftermarket brake controller has an LED on it to tell me when the brake is pressed...well - it was stuck on when I got in...

I remember replacing that switch about 10 years ago (now that I looked it up)...it has been awhile
