brake controller out - lights dont work
I am having a strange issue with my brakes...
It all started when my brake lights stayed on...so I though the switch went bad as they fail closed when they do go bad...
I replaced the switch and it didnt solve the issue.
So I started to look at the brake controller...at one time it was acting like the brakes were stuck on and the number wouldnt changed from 8
Then I disconnected it...the lights were still on...then I plugged it back it the lights came back on with no brake pedal push, but now the Brake controller showed over level. An air for a short to ground usually. So I disconnected the whole brake controller and now my brake lights don't work at all. What the heck happened I have the brake controller out and now the brakes lights don't work at all.

Try unplugging drl module. Theres also a flasher controller that can go bad iirc.
You're probably right about it being a brake controller, especially if it was meant for European vehicles and has the light trickery inside. Ive seen tons of aftermarket inline lighting adapters fail.

Check your trailer plug, the 6 rounds were pretty good but the newer 7 blades get corroded inside and short between terminals. Could have 12v+ shorter to the brake circuit. When you unhook the controller it opens the circuit
