I fear the worst, found metal bits in the transmission pan
Well the receipt has the details that says "Valve Body Retainer Broken". He said it was ready to go at any moment. I'm just glad I didn't find it by being stranded. I may have misunderstood, and the broken snap ring was unrelated. 🤷
I've never pulled an auto trans apart before to know every piece. I've been lucky to never have one fail on me in 35 years of driving. (Granted, I mostly have driven stick shifts until recently.) My mechanical education was in high school, and we didn't get too far into things, it was all about basic maintenance, and brakes. Everything else I've learned through necessity and YouTube. 🤣

I rebuilt a TH 350 and was in the process of doing the trans in my 94 Ram 1500 when health issues popped up. I had planned on taking the rear section to a shop and have them deal with that spring, but I ended up taking the whole thing to them as I couldn't deal with it at the time. As far as I know all valve bodies are held in with bolts. Never heard otherwise.
I really enjoy watching videos from Precision Transmission. I think he's in TX. If I need something done and can get it to him, he will be my guy.
