Default 1997 B3500 Van - Leisure Freedom Van

I'm a recent, new owner of a LF Dodge, built on a B3500 chassis.
While tinkering around and checking of fuse boxes, I noticed that the #5 fuse located in the cab/dash was removed. I also noticed in the fuse box in the engine compartment, that the two positions marked for ABS relays, were also removed. Not sure why. I think the vehicle was manufactured with ABS on the rear wheels only (drum/shoe breaks), front are disc.

Anyone have any experience with this? Not sure why anyone would disable a factory in stalled system. The dashboard annunciator break/abs lights up on start and disappears.

I replaced the the #5 fuse, but did not notice any changes. I was thinking about re-installing the relays, but decided to investigate before doing that.

Thanks

maybe...this is my experience...

with my 2002 - the ABS pump went bad. Instead of doing what they did to yours, I just bypassed the pump with unions and it is just regular brakes now.

I never tried it without the fuse or relay because those are still in there and working...the fluid just doesnt go through the pump anymore...no codes...

So I didn't know you could do what they did to your van...ahhh maybe

Im just throwing this out there to help

Thanks!.... I believe you are correct. I looked at the fuse box engine compartment. The two positions for the marked ABS did not have the socket clips installed. I think what happened was that Dodge offered the rwarl wheel ABS, but did not full install unless it was purchased. So, it makes sense that they would install the wiring and the hydro lines, but not complete with relays and probably the speed sensors. Just makes sense, st the time during production assembly.
In any case, my FTB stops fine w/o ABS active. I'm not sure on my Leisure, if ABS would have made a great deal of positive difference.
