If the Amazon links are related to the subject it's not spam. As long as he is not linking to some adult site or selling some crap you could care less about. Interesting idea yes! I thought about trying to add these on my tailgate(second gen truck) none are made from the aftermarket. There is some figuring that goes into it. Where to place it and then you need to know the amount of "spring" (They are called gas springs also) needed to overcome the load along with the amount of travel. After you get that all figured out it could be done.

If the post points to something for sale and the inquiry wasn't in response to a question by another user, then yes, it is unsolicited spam. For all we know, the one posting the link is the same one selling the item and is looking for some free advertising.
He's a spammer, he started that deleted thread with the Amazon links. Probably should remove this thread, as well as, banning the user.
Before jumping to conclusions, yes I did start that thread. It got deleted. I reposted without the links.
I only included it initially to give context. Including the links was a mistake.
I own a 97 Dodge B3500. If you need the VIN, I can even provide that.
