Things take a while to happen here, it seems...

I've got back onto this headlight job and I feel I'm starting to make progress. Attaching the new headlamps to the original adjusters for the RAM headlamps and getting it all in the right place is difficult but not impossible. I've now decided that I have to move the grille forward about 5/16" to give clearance, which only means putting little spacers in the six self-tapping screws and the two 6mm bolts attaching the grille.

The other day I got some plastic material (not sure exactly what it is) and machined it to make the spacers I need to locate the lights on the bracket I'm making to affix it all to those original adjusters. There's a tapered section on the spacers I've made for the rear of the mounts, which are shaped... well, here's a pic:

And here are the spacers:

And this is how it all fits together - note that this is by no means finished as I have to use a wider piece of steel to get the holes out to the right size for the plastic ball sockets and I'll be using cup-head stainless screws in the final assembly:

Just roughly in place, propped up for the purpose of these photos:

Getting those plastic ball socket mounts out of the original headlights was a real problem and I'd actually like to find some new ones - but this is proving very difficult. Does anyone know if the ones used on the later Challengers are the same dimensionally?
