any tips - total dash removal
Hi all...
Well this is probably one of the biggest PITA jobs...the vacuum motor/actuator for the dash vents...
I can see it after I remove the doghouse - I can put my hand on it and it is really stiff...I can almost not move it...I went to the boneyard, and found one that moves much easier...so I am almost totally sure mine has fried/stuck.
I have to take it out...the manual says I have to remove the whole dash - even though the actuator itself is just 'sitting' there...Ive tried to get it out...but cant
Has anyone done this job? Any tips?
Thanks

Head to college to figure that out. I do that all the time. I stopped by the U of Y (Youtube) to see what you need to do. I don't know the year or enough details to see for sure, but I found several actuator replacement videos. What I can tell you is often you can do it without major disassembly, but you sometimes need to be a 5 armed ape to do it.
If it turns out you DO have to remove the dash, take the front seats out. Being you have a van, that means the pedestals too. It can be done with them in, but the extra room makes your life MUCH easier. I did it on a Dakota once and it actually saved time.
