overdrive problem
I have a 1994 ram van 2500 with 360 engine. Since I bought the van(6 months ago) the overdrive has not worked. Light on the dash will turn on and off when pushed. Tranny shifts fine in all gears except od. Any help on where and what to look for would be appriciated. Gas prices are bankrupting me.

RE: overdrive problem
There is a solenoid that engages the Overdrive.
Since your light is going on/off that means the PCM computer is trying to provide a ground connection to this solenoid and it is one of the first places to check.
One unusual feature of the Dodge overdrive is that it is spring engaged and it may be that your unit has
a problem with the spring.
This website has good pictures of the internals of 46/48 style auto
and it is worth some time studying the pictures
before starting a repair attempt:

This 2003 Ram Field Service Manual in .pdf format is worth downloading because it
has a section on rebuilding the 46RE automatic. Your 46RH model is slightly different
than the 46RE it will describe in the valvebody design, but the overdrive unit is the same.
It is a big download.
