Default Bumper jack question plus

Hello all,
I been on forums all my life. Also been a chrysler corp guy all my life. I have no idea why it took so long to join here! Anyways, my 2001 conversion van has a bunch of problems. I cant believe its only 5 years old and things are already falling off! I bought it used 2 years ago and almost regret the thing. Dont get me wrong I love DODGE and the van but not lately. I went to chance a flat the other day and since the jack comes in a few pieces, one is missing. I never bothered to use it before until I needed it, and now I have no idea on what the name of the part is or even a model number for it. I called the local dealer and decribed the piece and they must have thought I was crazy. Does anyone know the proper name or part number for the extension that fits in or around the bumper. It goes to another bar, to a handle, to release the tire, below the van. I always had my tires roated, but not the one under the vehicle so I never needed it before. And does anyone know why the van sounds like it is letting off a big spark or sparks( only way to describe the sound) once it goes into any gear from park? Reverse and forward. My check engine light comes on once in a while too. Just curious if it's related.

I would think "extension" is the correct word. Since it's a conversion van, I don't know if the tire-tools are the same as "stock" vans -- probably are.

Do you have, or can you buy, an owner's manual? That would probably have pictures that you can point to, when talking to a parts dept. But, I would also think you could find a complete set at a salvage yard.

I have, at times, used a barrel socket + extension to release the tire (1/2-inch or 9/16, I forget).

Also, I have never used my spare in rotation, because I can never find a good match to pair it with. However, I do get plenty of chances -- due to flats -- to get it out and clean it and make sure it's inflated, etc.

On the noise, hmm, "sparking" do think it's electrical? If it's more of a "clicking" noise, you chould check the transmission / motor mounts. Maybe have some one apply the brake and select a gear while you listen closer to the motor / trans area?

hello, the jack and tools should be OE,they are wrench P/N 52020339AA;handleP/N 52039118;rod P/N 52020280AA;rod P/N 52020440AA.The first rod is about $12.00 and the second is $3.00.It's a shame that you can't get the kind of service like the old days, but with rates of pay and the general downfall of hardworking Americans this is now expected.I bought my conversion van back in '72 and I still have it.Of course it is no longer a conversion van,I still use it.My current plans are to restore it. I have lifted it 3inches,installed seats from a 2002 caravan,H.I.D lighting, rear camera,DVD player . I don't need to worry about smog, so the engine is tweaked slightly.I am in parts and any helo I can provide for you just let me know.

black mamba,

Great to have another Dodge techie here in the forums! You're like gold in these places!

thevan2001,

As for your sparking, and the codes, have you done the on-off-on-off-on key routine and looked at the trip odometer? It will flash the engine codes and tell you what troubles it has.

If the issue is a REAL spark check the engine coil.

If all else fails, take the pieces you have to the local Dodge dealer's parts counter. Show the parts guy what you have. If he's any good at all, he should be able to come up with an exploded view of the entire assembly on the computer. He can then see a picture and a part number of what is missing.

...and don't forget about salvage yards, too.

black mamba is correct on those part numbers. The jack parts you're missing have the P/N's stamped right into them.

I am very sorry guys that I haven't replied sooner. I checked out the forum and seen no replies and thought that when I got one or more, it would email me to let me know. I was just going through my favorites sites on IE and seen all these replies!!!!! Anyways, thanks for all the information. I will order that jack piece asap. FYI the codes that are on the diag are:P0601 and P0442. I found out what they meant but not being car savvy now with all of these new computer parts, I really don't know what they mean. The spark I hear, is definitely, electrical and I believe related to the tranny. I don't know if they have to do with the codes I said, but started the same time as the check engine light started coming on. When going from park into drive or reverse, it sparks, and just after I accelerate. After the van moves down the road, I don't hear it anymore, but the check engine light comes on all all the time and stays on, Even after I turn it off and start it. Does anyone also know the paint warranty. My van has a little over 65k and is a 2001. The conversion top, is flaking like crazy. All started this summer. I will be back online during the week, I am leaving to go out of state for my job, and will be there Tuesday night if not sooner.

It's hard to tell by the tiny picture.

Everything in the picture is there for the additional hardware you need, except the scissors jack itself. The long black tray holds the hardware to the rear pillar of the van.
