Default Power Door Lock Problem PLEASE HELP

Hello, I have a 99 Dodge Ram Van, the door locks will at times hang up, like you are holding the lock switch down, then it will quit working all together, it will run the battery down and when you go to jump start it, it will lock you out[>:][:@]. any help would be much appreciated.

Either a switch or a relay is sticking. You're going to have to disconnect them one by one the next time it happens. When the locks release you found the culprit.

I had this big pain on a 1996 Dodge Caravan. You'll need to check each switch. Yes, it's a pain, but it will help find the problem and not drain the battery. I my case, I found the switch to be the one most used on the drivers door. Since I didn't have the cash to get a new one right away, I just unplugged the contacts to the switch and wrapped masking tape around them tempoarily. OK, so that door then became a manual operation and I had to run over or reach over to the other side to power lock the rest of the doors. It was a small pain to do, but the battery didn't drain and the switch I got the next month.

Also check the power door lock relay switch and if any of the wires in the doors to the vehicle body had weared or were broken.

Yeah, thats what I would check, too - look for any wires that are rubbing up against something, they may have some exposed insulation that causes it to ground the door motor and lock the doors.
