1999 3.9L Dodge Van - transmission slips
G'day all,
My 1999 Dodge Van (3.9L V6 - automatic) has developed a strange habit of intermittentally missing 2nd gear during acceleration; it seems to jump from 1st to 3rd directly. Also, it refuses to downshift.
I have changed the fluid, and this has not improved the situation.
Any ideas?
Thanx,
FH

Hi
Not knowing what transmission you have on the van I'll give some possibilities. Start by checking the kickdown cable, see if it is
adjusted properly, check the lever on the trans for the kickdown make sure is not seized and at last (this part stinks ) but you'll
need to remove the pan again and make sure the governor's plungers are not sticking and that the governor body is free of debris
(if clutch material or metal is found in the governor the trans will need to be overhauled)
Hope this helps
