i got a 1994 ram van with a 5.2 liter and a 4 speed auto . i was driving up a hill and heard a weird pop noise then after about 2 miles the tranny started slipping till it wouldnt move then if i turn it off and started it it engages for about 10 or 20 feet then does it again . anny advice would be appreciated thanxs . mike

I know that sound. The tranny looks like in fell into emergency gearing; which is what it is supposed to do when in a bad spot like this.

My sound was more of a crash.

I would say, something slipped/broke and the pieces went into your overdrive.
