First post!
Can anyone share some comforting thoughts?
I recently purchased an '06, 5.7ltr, quad cab. When I bought it I didnt seem to hear the tick I hear now. I've done a good bit of reading and have heard a little about the "Hemi Tick". Wednesday I changed my oil, again, after doing some reading I tried Mobile1 Fully Synthetic oil 5w-20. Looked like you guys were pro Mobile1, it seems the tick has gotten a little worse. Prior owner did put dual exhaust on the truck and its seems to run very good. I've been averaging about 15 mpg and dont seem to be burning or loosing oil etc. Horse Power seems to be very good.
Am I overly paranoid over myrecent investment?
Thanks for you thoughts...

lol, welcome to the club bud. we all have the ticks. the hemi ticks by nature of its own design. you cant get rid of it. you just have to learn to deal with it like the rest of us.

When I first bought my truck I would notice the 'ticking' too, especially at a stoplight with my window down. But now I know that it is just a characteristic of the HEMI. All cars ake their own distinct noises and ticking just happens to be the noise the HEMI makes. Of course it also roars when you floor it

It is a little surprising a 2006 would have Hemi tick.
Chrysler has known for some time how to correct
"Hemi tick"
but so many engines and $ are involved
that they are afraid of issuing a recall or TSB.
They have a solution that your dealership can find
by checking their
"Star Online" computer data base
for solution number K59926684 or K21050787
The ticking problem is that the valve guide internal diameters are too big,
and the solution involves putting in new valves with oversize stems.
If you are still under warranty
Chrysler will pay for this,
but if you are out of warranty
it is a very expensive repair.
