dana 60 rebuild questions for ram 2500
hey whats up guys, im new to this forum and am hoping to get some much needed information on a rebuild of a reardana 60 with 4.10 gears. Here it is..I have 2 broken teeth on the ring gear and decided to replace the ring and pinnion gears as well as all of the bearings. I bought the installation kit from jeggs and the gears from summit. Now I could use some detailed instructions on how to repair this correctly, my main concern is getting the gear lash right with no mistakes...can anybody give me a hand on this topic or refer me to any resources? thanks a bunch.

You don't mention your model year of Ram
but make sure your differential is actually a Dana 60
insteal of the Dana 70
http://dodgeram.org/tech/specs/axle/rear_axle.html
There is backlash set-up info here:
http://www.drivetrain.com/ringpinioninstal.html
The large pdf file link below
of the 2003 Ram 'Field Service Manual' or FSM
should have detailed rebuild instructions
but it would be much better to have the official FSM for your
model year...they are usually about $100 or less on eBay
http://tinyurl.com/yqtldw
the above link will start the download of a large
file that you really need a fast internet connection for
There is additional information on the Dana 60 here:
http://www.autohobbydigest.com/dana.html
The Dana 60 also shows up in the rear of
International Harvester Scouts
so finding a manual for one of those
would also give you rebuild instructions
best of luck on your rebuild
