RE: Ride quality- 1500 vs 2500
welcome to DF...
assuming your talking 4x4's the 1500's (3rd gen) have a different front suspension than the 2500's... with the 2500's being a solid front axle setup like the 2nd gen trucks. ride quality can be improved significantly for about $1000 bux by installing a set of mini-leaf packs, new shocks & different springs up front. I just did this to mine about a month ago and am very happy with it. I take mine off road alot and am very happy with it.

are you talking about the independent suspensions vs. the solid axles? I've got the independent front end and it rides much different then the solid axle. Just depends what your looking for.

the 1500 mega cab 4x4's have the SFA up front, same suspension as the 2500's. As mentioned by rtmorrisjr, you can definately make it ride much better... Lorenze mini leaf packs for the rears and different springs up front. I have the skyjacker d25's up front & the Lornez setup in the rear and it's night & day...

Steve O, can you be specific as to what mods you did on your suspension? I know very little about choosing right shocks etc. Any part #s? I plan on modifying a 2500 4.2 with stock tires.
