Default Ram 4.7 L engine surge

have noticed my 03 Ram with 4.7l at start will start to surge. It only does it after a few seconds of start and in drive. I can then give it gas and it will stop. At the same time the dash iluminacion will dim and brighten with each surge. But the RPM guage will stay at normal idle numbers. Do you guys have any answers?

I have an 04 4.7. Mine surges when it is cold as well. Even after letting it warm up for about 5 mins. A Dodge dealer techsaid he has noticed it on anewer truckswith 4.7 motorsand up. No known fix or problem. Just a "Dodge" thing. As for the mpg..about 12-13 in city and 17-18 at 80 mphon the hwy once you get out of traffic.

That surge is not all the time. Did your dash lights dim and get brighter with each surge? A freind of mine said the the idle air control motor is the casue but my dealership said that it was all right and could not find a fault code anywhere.

Never noticed my headlights or dash lights sugre. But most the time the surge happened it was in the day time. The change in brightness could just be the alt. changing rpm with the surge. Dealership said the same about mine.
