Default 1.7:1 Viper rocker arms...The "poor man's" upgrade???

Folks,

So I was on scanning the internet today and stumbled upon some interesting stuff. I read that the stock Viper V-10 rocker arms (1.7:1 ratio) will bolt right into place of the stock rocker arms (1.6:1 ratio) on the Magnum engines. I appears that they will fit under the stock covers and all.

Could this be a low cost ($80-$100) soultion to a performance upgrade? I have been looking at installing a 'mild' cam for a while. But if this is true not only could it be low cost but would only require removing the valve covers and not the whole front of the engine.

If this is true.......this would give a 'mild' upgrade to that is quick and cheap. At least for my truck this would compliment the current upgrades as well as the upgrade I am getting tomorrow (Stage II Jet chip, 52mm TB and new CAI).

So.....how about it???? Will it work????

Thanks,
Eric

Don't forget new pushrods. Valve to piston clearance may become an issue too.

I don't think valve to piston clearance will be an issue. The extra lift will be small in comparison to some of the after market cams out there.

As to the pushrods, it appears that the rods are the proper lenght as is and do not need to be replaced. If there are any tech that know for sure let me know. I will have a chat with the guys at the Dodge dealer. I have a good relation ship with a few master techs at several dealers in town.

production stamped steel rockers are known for poor quality , frictional loses, and especially their inconsistent ratio's. thats why most the hi-performance minded upgrade to better quality aftermarket valvetrain components. the gains made from today's roller rockers quickly prove this.
