97 Ram 2500 5.9L wo
Hi all,
I have a Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L (gas) that won't start. This first started
happening when there was "wet" weather. I replaced ignition coil, wires,
distributor cap, rotor, and plugs. Seemed to work after that. However,
it's been getting cold here recently (in New England), and now the truck
won't start (although it ran fine the day before which was also quite cold).
I ran the battery low trying to start it quite a few times, so I brought it in the
house for an overnight re-charge. The battery cranks the engine quite well
(rated at 1000 CCA and 1 year old), so I don't suspect it's the problem.
I can smell (a lot of) fuel at the tailpipe, and taking a few spark plugs out
reveals that there's "plenty" of fuel (maybe even flooded?). I plan to hook
up the timing light to see if I'm actually getting a spark.
I've read a few posts that suggested the following:
- Coolant sensor.
- Intake gasket.
- Check fuses/relays.
- Battery.
- Fried PCM.
Any suggestions on what I should look for?
Thanks a mil,
Dave
