Default need help with brake fluid leak from proportioning valve! please help!

This is a pic from my dads 2001 dodge ram 1500. I believe its the brake proportioning valve. I took the picture of the top of the proportioning valve, but the leak is at the bottom. In the pic you can see a little nipple type thing at the top of the proportioning valve, thats the same thing that is at the bottom leaking.

What would make this leak? do I need to replace the whole proportioning valve or can I revove this valve looking thing thats leaking and replace it? Thanks guys!

It is the unit responsible for adjusting the front to rear brake proportion (maintain brake balance from front to rear). It also has the brake pressure switch (to control the brake light) in it's body. The nipple is a shaft carrier. In the middle hole a rod runs through it. Depending on the position of the rod the valve will allow more or less fluid to the front and rear systems. Not aservicable part, replace entirely.

PSSome vehicles also have aheight sensing proportioning valve (usually mounted directly to the rear axel)
