Default Injector pump blues

Hello all..I am needing some help. I just put a new injector pump on my Dodge Ram 2002 24 valve 5.9 liter truck, now when i go to start it it is hard to start.. I also bought a fuel pressure gauge and it is saying 11 pounds at idle and 4 or 5 at wide open throttle. It runs rough and it has a chip and a programmer and it will not black smoke. I havee friend who is a diesel mechanic and says he thinks that i might have gotten a bad pump. Does this kind of thing happen alot does anyone know?[:@] Can anyone out there help me??????????????????????

Have you changed the filter?

check the fuel filter to see if it's clogged first off. (ThAT PART IS LIKE $5).
Then restore all your setting to stock settings,
Make sure sure everything is connected properly, and then try to start.

Here are some things to check.
Spark plugs, when were they changed last?
Do you, or have you had any problems befiore with the starter or battery.

And if none of these things seem to be the problem, you might just need a new intake manifold. It might more cost erffective to bring it to a shop and have them diagnose the problem with the computer.
