new 5.4 pumps out 80% of it torque at 1500 rpm or so. Can anyone
comment on the low-end torque of the Dodge. I don't want to

The short answer is, it has <span style="text-decoration: underline;">enough</span>
low-end torque to get the job done. Coming from a '95 V-10 Ram,
it for sure has less torque at low RPMs than the 8.0L monster, but the
HEMI also has more horsepower up high (let's call it "The Thrill Zone").

I also have a '01 Durango 5.9 R/T and it also feel like it has more
low-end torque than the HEMI, but the R/T has a lower (numerically
higher) final drive ratio too. The five speed auto supplied with
the HEMI has TWO overdrive gears, so in fifth you're just over 2,100
RPM at 80 MPH ... IIRC.

You may also want to check out a dyno chart of the HEMI. The graph (unfortunately) starts at 3,300 RPM, but it looks pretty flat down there to me.

The 360cubic inch V8 from dodge will produce 330lbs/ft torque at low RPMs in two wheel drive now put it in 4low and you multiply the torque. Add about five hundred dollars and your torque will reach the mid 400s in 2 wheel drive. <edited><editID>tobybackwoods</editID><editDate>38006.3847453704</editDate></edited>
