I am kicking aroud the idea of tradeing in the 99 1500 5.2, for a hemi 4x4. The 5.2 is ok but just not enough power to pull the 4000# boat.

What are you folks getting for gas mileage?

With still under 1000 miles on my 1500 Quad 4X4 Hemi I got on Fwy. and got up to speed (64 MPH) on cruse and got between 19.5-20.2 mph after 86 miles of driving. After combining with city mileage that tankful averaged in the 17's. Average street driving if trying to get good mileage it's about 14. But just one or two hardoff the line starts and ave. goes down fast.

i have the 04 4x2 quad hemi. didnt go with the 4x4 cause i own a rubicon. got the hemi specific for towing. i pull a 23ft toy-box. loaded with fuel, water and all the quads its about 6000 or more. i pull through so cal up some large grades and only average about 8-10. some of that is me trying to pass slower traffic and letting the rpms race! hehehe. too much fun. around town the wife gets the average 17 or so. who really knows with all the traffic out here. overall i think it blows that new f150 away in all areas and wouldnt trade it for nothin! hemi hemi hemmmmmmmi!

btw, anyone here know how to yank the bed off the frame, got some dings i need to "remove"before the wife kills me or worse, rolls the jeep!

I wasn't sold on the whole HEMI craze till I drove one. I have.. had now,a 96 Indy with approx. 290HP. A 98 sst with supercharger, a 92 ramcharger 360, and some 70's hot rods. I bought the 2x4 Hemi single shortbox and wow.. it hauls ***. I put the spacer swirly thing on the intake and it did give it a little boost. Also could tell the power difference when I changed to mobil 1 at 1500miles. I wasn't a believer till I drove one. Go test drive it and you will want it!

Side note, a good friend is a chevy guy all the way; he just bought an 04 single cab and my 96 would eat his lunch. I took him for a ride in the Hemi... he didn't say a word... even when I told him I paid less for mine than he did for his new junker. Had to be there, but the look on his face when I hit the gas was amazing.

So far I am happy with my Hemi. Gas mileage is a little sad, but I knew that going into it. I plan on making it a project vehicle byadding a blower and see if I can spank some Lightnings, and make them . I am sure the mileage will be even worse then.

Overall the truck is awesome, the transmission shifts great, the truck feels solid. The power is there when I need it. I love it, and I am happy with my purchase.
