99 Ram Exhaust
I just bought a 99 ram and it came with dual exhaust. What i want to do is make it louder. What are some options i have. Im pretty new to the truck performance world most of my experience has been with DSM's. Any help is appreciated.

I'm guessing the duals are not thefactory exhaust. Can you tell what brand/type of muffler is on it? There have been alot of posts recently with this same topic. Do a search for "exhaust" and check out what other members have.

Here is a sound clip of mine (see signature):

I'd roll underneath your truck, take a look and see if
your muffler is welded or clamped on. If it's welded,
you can do some cutting or just get all new exhaust.
I have a Flowmaster American Thunder kit that
comes with a 50 series, but the Original 40 Series is
louder.

what is a good size piping to use? there is a muffler shop right down the road and they will make custom exhaust. Iwas thinking either 3 1/2 or 4 inch pipes. how much of a difference is that in sound? i want something that will roar when i get on it, and sounds pretty mean even at an idle.
I wouldn't go with too big of pipes because you will lose too much backpressure which results in a loss of torque. The most common size seems to be a single 3 1/2" intake with dual 2 1/2" exits.
I have a 14" magnaflow with a 3" inlet and dual 2.5" outlet, I noticed a difference in performance right away and sounds great.
