Top Selling Trucks

Coming from chevy to dodge was a bit hard for me but chevy has really fallen behind. I had a 02 silverado and loved it but this year when i went looking i felt the chevy was lacking and the front end really ruined the truck. I think alot of people are coming over to dodge. I think the biggest challenge is overcoming the "Dodges transmissions always go" Thing. The ram is by far the best looking truck on the market.

It's easy for a Chevy tranny to hold up to and underpowered engine!
We went from a 95 Ford Bronco to a 4 Dodge ram Quad cab .The gas mileage is not as good but I sit higher and the Ford could turn on a dime. But it had transmission broblems. MostlyFford couldn't fix it.
I was gonna guess fleet sales as well. It's the same here, I see way more Rams than chevys. Maybe people are finally realizing brand loyalty isn't worth putting up with the incredibly ugly "hawk-eye" front ends of the new Silverados.
Did the sales numbers take the Ford Super Duty's into account? Because I still see WAY more of those around than any other heavy duty pickup... Maybe that's what helped push Ford so far ahead.

I've been thinking the same thing the last few weeks. I definatly see more RAMS around then chubby's and furds. There were two articles actually on MSN today about it. FORD and GM giving stuff away

I don't know where you guys are from, but in Southern California, its Ford Country. Every 3rd vehicle is a lifted white F150 or F250. If I had to rank what I see out here it is 1) Ford 2) Toyota 3) Chevy 4) Dodge 5) Nissan. Fords generally are cheaper than Chevy's or Dodge's - which is why these surfer boys buy em. I bought a Dodge because of the Hemi and the fact there aren't a ton of them around.
As far as half ton trucks go, it really depends what you want. If you want a truck that drives like a car, and feels like one inside, the F150 is probably the way to go (I know I had an 04 before it became a LEMON). But if you want a ***** to wall vehicle that is big and FEELS like a truck, you go with a Dodge. Chevy's are over priced and underpowered. Toyotas do last forever, but can't do much with a 4.7L V8 that gets 30 more HP than their Tacoma V6. Nissan? First thought is ugly, second thought is anybody who buys one is a weekend warrior. They are quick - can't take that away from them, but they have had TONS of quality issues. I just can't bring myself to drive a truck with the Rising Sun symbol on the grille.
My whole issue with these Titan buyers is - why do they talk so much crap about how fast their 0-60 times are? If someone is buying a truck for how quick it is, they should be shot. If you want speed, buy a sportscar. If you want a REALLY fast truck, you get a Ram SRT 10 (don't even get me started on how crappy the Silverado SS is).
I do have to say, recently I have seen more Dodge trucks in Southern California. But people here usually don't opt for the Hemi. They go with the 4x2 small V8. Thats fine, I mean it rains maybe 10 days a year, no snow or anything. But the Dodge dealer I went to had great incentives. I got $6,000 off the sticker for a 4x4 Quad Cab Hemi. It had 9 miles on it, the 34 gallon fuel tank, and they threw in free oil changes for a year. 20,000 miles later, no problems to speak of, only been to the dealer for oil changes.
So far, I've put a Series 40 Flowmaster on it, a Waag Brush Guard, 60W PIAA offroading lights, limo tint, Rhino Liner, K&N Cold Air Intake, Pioneer sound system, mud flaps (which will have to come off when I lift it), and new floor mats (they have the metal Dodge Ram head on them - you can order them from the dealer for about $90).

The only reason I can see for Chevy and Ford to outsell Dodge is that they have the big push for worktruck fleets. I've only ever seen maybe 3 Dodge worktruck models with the tons of plastic wrap and simple interiors. All over the base we have tons of Fords and now we've been getting into Chevy's. the only Dodge on base that I've seen is our Base Operations vehicle for the flight line. Its a QC 1500 Ram. I think the work trucks boost the sales mostly, cause it sure isn't reliability.
I have always been a Dodge guy, so I tend to only notice Dodge products.
I will notice other RAM's b/c I drive one, I never notice the figly Chevy trucks. Furds are OK, but nothing special.
I am guessing that Rams are more popular b/c they look so much better. Better styling, nicer bigger wheels/tires really sets it off from the others.
Of course, I live in St. Louis, the mfg home of the Ram 1500.
They have a really cool red/white/blue american flag trucj parked out front of the Fenton plant. Even the chrome wheels are tinted red!
