You are maxed out at about 105-108 mph. Ain't no tuner shop gonna raise your speed limiter. It's in the computer and nobody....nobody has figured that out yet. Reminder, never exceed the maximum speed rating of your tires no matter what.

 

i got my '99 5.9 up to about 110 and it felt as if it could go faster. once my superchip reprogrammer arrives i will raise the limiter.

 

I don't know about the HEMI but i've had my 2001 5.9 up to around a little more than 115 w/ the rpms way to high. I got a little scared and let it off.

 

5.9rm I was referring to the hemi...my 5.9 work truck is never driven above 70 mph so I'm not sure about the speed limiter with it...but I would guess it isn't any or much higher than my hemi....stock that is....I know there are programmers out for your truck. remember the tires guys...

 

Mine also cuts out between 105 and 108. I broke 108 twice, hitting 110 and 115, but that only has happened twice.

 

I don't think a break-in is even a concern at this point. Maybe if it was turning high RPM or something, but it isn't, even at 100 MPH.

I know year-to-year that DC has changed something around in the computers to keep these aftermarket programmer (tuners) guessing. I'm sure there will be a market for a controller, PCM, for our trucks that will eliminate the top end limiter.

 

Top speed is 105. If ya pull fuse 37?? That removes governor and lets you go higher, however you lose ABS. I read this on DTW.

 

I wouldn't do it, how often does anybody go 100 anyway? I'm fine with 105-108 unless I make it faster and I need that speed for the 1/4. If there was a cheap way that didn't take anything away or screw anything up I'd probably do it.

 

My 04 HEMI topped at 106 also, my 03 dakota was 95.. ughh

Everyone. I agree with you on the speed issue. Really, how often are you going to go that fast. I was mainly curious if anyone new exactly what it was. Like angelch17, I was upset (PISSED) that my 01 Dakota was limited to only 97 MPH. This didn't even match the speed rating on the tires, and a tech @ Kenne Bell said it was due to a driveline imbalance that DC didn't want anyone to find out about. (??????)
