new to the forum and to dodge trucks...and 3/4 tons especially. long question short--when do i need to be in drive vs overdrive. i have big truck exp. (10 wheeler) and 1/2 ton exp but no 3/4 ton. my 2000 ram 2500 5.9 gas seems to be a real hoss but whenever i'm pulling a trailer when do i keep it in od vs d?

That is really going to depend on the load. If your on hills def keep it in drive. The constant shifting is bad and you'll overheat the tranny. If you are running flat surface and its okay to put it into od, assuming your not pulling 8000lbs. If its heavy keep it in drive.
