Ram Hemi vs Non Hemi....?
That is a lot of horsepower and most people forget to upgrade their tranny's....therefore a weak point. Dodge does have a bigger tranny and many big truck models have a HD Tranny option especially for towing
I was rather saddened when dodge moved from the New Venture trannies that have been so good. the NV5600, all one has to do is replace the stock aluminium bell houseing, put in a better clutch and it's ability to handle over 1200lb-ft tq isnt out of the question.
the auto's on the other hand are good, but you have to do alot to it in order for it to handle high HP numbers

1200 lbs of torque is HUGE! You could pull a tree stump out of the ground! I recently test drove a Chevy 2500 with 6.0L, I am going to try to get to the dealer this weekend and drive the Ram 2500 and the Ford F250 and compare. There is rain in the forecast so I may have to postpone my plans [:@]
I couldnt find a used hemi in my price range[&o]...and a manual is pretty fun to drive. i get lazy sometimes but keeps me from tryin to multi-task when im driving. plus u dont hear of many hemi guys gettin 17.1mpg around the city and highway...but i still wouldve gotten one if i could have found it in my price range....oh well. hopefully in a fwe years ill have my business going and have my CTD then[8D]

already pulled a 30 foot maple out of the ground by the roots, 4L and reverse and I'm still stock

the one thing you'll notice about the ford is that it revs like there is no tomorrow. then to accelerate while moving at say 45mph the tranny has to downshift to get the engine into a better torque / hp range. the Dodge just mash the throttle, tranny wont shift, the turbo spools you're gone.
the torque of the Cummins hits 610 lb-ft at a low 1600 rpm. and makes 325hp at 2900. the ford makes 560 lb-ft torque around 2000 rpm but it also drops off, at 3300 rpm it is only making 325 lb-ft. it also weighs in at 325hp, but the engine has to rev to 3500rpm to get there.
one thing that the inline 6 has over the v8 is that once the engine makes torque, it doesnt loose it. so anywhere from 1600 rpm till you red line the engine, it is making 610lb-ft torque.
Inline 6's have always been known for that. I road in a big bus ona trip to the rose bowl parade and we were cruising thru the mountains and the driver told me the bus engine was a straight 6! The pistons were the diameter of basketballs!
