Default New Purchase 04 Ram

Hi all, I recently purchased a 04 Ram Hemi 1500 Thunderroad. It is my first new truck. It has 350 miles on it. I became a Hemi fan and had to buy this one. I was wondering anyones break in techniques? I was gonna change the oil for the first 2500 miles at 500 intervals before switching to synthetic. I heard the seals and o-rings had to seat first before I should switch to synthetic. I was wondering any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi HemiGuy. Congrats on your new purchase. I'm sure the HEMI romance will only get stronger with time. I know it has for most of us.

Break-in opinions are like bung holes: everybody's got one. DCX recommends only a 500-mile break in, followed by "sensible driving". Today's vehicles don't need the multi-thousand mile break-ins of yesteryear.

Personally, I went easy for 500 miles, then changed my oil at 1000 and 3000 miles. General concensus is to stay with organic motor oil 'til 6000 miles, then go Mobil 1 or Amsoil. I did a gradual change-over from organic to semi-synthetic, followed by full synthetic at 6000 miles.

Good luck! Post pictures when you can.

Sounds like a nice truck! I only liked HEMI's until I drove one, now I love them.

Please excuse my ignorance but what does the Thunderroad package come with?

The thunderroad package is really just a dressed up ram. Groud effects, running boards, and white out package. Comes with a berliner and tonneau cover.[IMG][/IMG]

I wasn't aware they made any TRoads in 2004. Curoius what State you purchased bought your truck?

Here is my California Express. Do you know if they did any of these for 2004?

I got my truck from North Carolina and had it delivered here to Long Island. I could not find one around here. I am not sure if they make the california express. But it looks so similar to a thunderroad.
