The true dual exhaust would probably give a little better performance, but if you haven't made any significant engine mods it probably won't make a noticeable difference or warrant the additional cost, cause now your going to need 2 new mufflers and 2 new cats and you'll have to run both pipes down the passenger side to start because your gas tank is in the way! I'd suggest you check with a local muffler shop. You might be surprised what they can do for you for less than that dealer exhaust you mentioned. The shop I go to cuts the back end of the cat to open it up to 3". He runs a 3" pipe out of the cat into a 14" Magnaflow muffler that has a 3" inlet and two 2 and a half inch outlets. My '99 Ram sounded great and performance was improved. I had one pipe on each side of the truck below the bumper, but he could have run them out behind the tires on each side,in front of the tires, both out the passenger side like the Ram SRT-10 or ??? The little independent shops will usually bend that pipe any old way you want!

I can only offer this. Used to be back in the 60's and 70's that swapping over to a true dual exhaust was pretty much a given improvement. However, after talking with the guys at Flowmaster this is not always the case today especially for the Hemi. According to Flowmaster and other posts I have seen on this website, the Hemi is backpressure sensitive. When designing an after market system, this must be taken into considration. So... IMO when taking into consideration whether going to true duals or not, it would pay to go with an after-market manufacturer who has designed and tested their system around a true dual design. Making your own by combining various components may or may not give you the results you are expecting. According to the folks at Flowmaster, they have specifically designed their muffler and system to perform after the Y transistion for the Hemi. They do not guarantee the same results using two of their mufflers in a true dual design since they have not tested (dynoed) this configuration. IMO, with the computer controlled vehicles today, it pays to go with a system that has been designed, developed and tested for your particular applilcation.

well see the reson im asking is because i have this crazy idea that i think would look awsome but im not sure if it will work of course the guy at the local shop said it would work but he didnt say much about the perfromance

anyway what I would like to do is have like a gibson super truck exhaust on both sides (only the look not the whole kit) i would get the tips and put them on the ends of each sides exhaust right before the back tire so it would be like this on boht sides http://www.gibsonperformance.com/super.asp (the exhaust on the truck) i dont have any other pickures of this

but i know that i can get 15hp and 30lbs of torque with the kit and i was wondering if i would get anywhere near that is if i had a dual exhaut on my
'99 Ram 5.2l ext cab with 80inch box (dono if it is short or long)
