I was sort of luke warm with the alloy wheels and skinny tires that came on my '04 Hemi. I didn't want 20s for various reasons, so opted for the 17s. Since I was planning on new wheels at some point anyway, I figured why spend the money up front.

Anyway, I bought a set of American Racing Chrome Vanguards. They are 18 x 8.5. They are wrapped with a set of 285/60-18 Cooper Zeon XST Sport Truck Radials. These tires are great, even in the snow.

What did you do with the stock wheels and tires?

Did you have to adjust the speedo?

 

Since you mentioned the 20's, why not?

I've got an 04 Durango and want to put the Ram 20's on my truck.

I like your new wheels! I also think the window air deflectors are good looking too.

 

Not to open a can of worms, the service manager at the dealer I purchased from, is a very good friend of mine. He indicated the Rams with 20s had more rotor warp problems than those with 17s. Also, the tire options for 20s was rather limited at the time, a bit rougher ride, and driveability in snow, coupled with the cost of replacement tires. It all boils down really, to my personal choice.

 

I'm keeping the stock wheels. The stock tires were 245/70-17s. Plan to replace those with 265/70-17s (same basic overall diameter as the 285/60-18s I'm running now). Next Winter, I'll swap over to the stock wheels. Just couldn't wait to run the new wheels now and we're fairly close to Spring anyway.

I had the computer upgraded by the dealership to adjust for the new tires and wheels. They did this, by the way, at no charge. Next Winter when I swap over, I won't need to have this done again, since the overall diameters are so close (about 1/16" difference).
