smaller tires better?
I'm posting this for feedback and preferably would like to see what your trucks look like with different size tires. I recently purchased an 04 QC SLT that came with 245/70/17 tires. I instantly thought........I NEED BIGGER TIRES. I began reading several posts about what size you can fit wihtout a lift, body vs. suspension lifts etc. I've come to the conclusion that I will one day lift my truck, but before I can do that I will need new tires. (tint, nerf bars, exhaust, etc as well) My question is, without a lift I do kind of like the way the look of my truck is with the spacing between the tires and the wheel wells. I have a friend who has a F-150 with stock 16 inch rims and larger, beefier tires that nearly fill the entire wheel well. I think my truck (besides obviously being mopar) looks better..... Had he had a slight lift that gave the spacing, the tires would look nice. I see several posts about how large of a tire you can fit without a lift, I'm very interested in seeing pics of those of you who have added larger tires, pushing the envelope of what will fit without rubbing. Thanks in advance.

RE: smaller tires better?
I have the 05 qc 4x4 also with the whimpy 245\70\17 I hate the tires and the way they look rediculously small from what I've gathered the largest tire that can be installed with 0 changes is 305\70\17 which is the size of tires I will hopefully have by summers end! I got a picture from one of the other members which I have attached.

I've got an '04 Dodge Ram 1500 QC 4x4 with the 20"x9" cast aluminum wheels and P275/60/R20 tires.. Picture provided below.. I'm obviously going to go with a smaller wheel size (maybe 17" steels) whenever I get brave enough to do some more serious off-roading..

305 is a 12" wide tire, on an 8" wide wheel? It's a bit narrow. You'll want to look at the specs for the tire to see if it's supposed to be mounted on an 8" wheel.
PS if you put 305/70 on a truck that came with 245/70 you'll have to recalibrate the speedo, since it's now nearly 34" tall instead of 30.5".

ok, so i checked out goodyears website on the goodyear mt/r's. and on the tire specs, they list the approved rim width for the tires as 8" to 9.5" ... so i would say they are god to go? would anyone else agree? Goodyear MT/R SPEC LINK

280 a pop? yuck! If you don't need them right now, order them off Tirerack.com for $216 each.
Your on the skinny side, but it'll work. You'll probably find it's a little narrower and taller than they state, due to the fact that you're putting it on a narrow rim.

RE: smaller tires better?
Hey guys, the red truck is mine. I have talked to assjack and ross944 through PM already, but I thought I would post here so that everyone could read it. To answer some questions, my truck is an 02 Reg Cab with no lift or torsion bar cranking at all. I have 305/70/17 tires on my stock 17 inch rims. The tires fit on the rims, and under the wheel wells just fine, no rubbing at all.
The specific tires I have are Maxxis Bighorns and I have been very happy with them, they ride well, but are a bit noisy. I don't think the noise is that bad. Here is a direct link to the tire specs from the manufacturer. I got them for something like $168 a tire.

Any more questions let me know.
