Marvel Mystery Oil?
Anybody ever use this stuff? I have used it in some of my other cars with good results and no problems. I Put some in the gas tank of my 04 hemi and got a 1.5mpg increase. Anyone know what the long term use of this stuff might do to the truck? I suspect it's like chicken soup...Won't do much good but probably won't hurt either...
Well to be totally honest I did put a drop in K&N filter in the stock box a few days earlier. But I did not notice much of an increase then. I took a long 425 mile round trip to Tonopah NV on sunday and got 18 mpg which is better than I normally get. I think I will try the stuff for a few tank fulls and see what happens.
It's been around for many, many years (just look at the style of printing on the can/bottle) and provides extra upper cylinder lubrication. I used it once on my '87 Mustang GT, but didn't notice any real benefits. If you use a good oil and gas and have a newer engine, I don't see any need for the stuff. But if it makes you feel better, go for it.
BTW, Dodge advises against any oil additives for engines using synthetic oil as does Amsoil. An old mechanic friend of mine once told me it makes a great parts cleaner and he bought it in 55 gallon drums.[sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley36.gif][sm=smiley4.gif] Use with caution!

Some other gas additives to consider are Amsoil's PI or Performance Improver as well as Fuel Power. Fuel power is highly recommended on www.bobistheoilguy.com . It is available here: http://www.lubecontrol.com/
On that website is another product (Lube Control or L/C) that effectively doubles your oil life.
I have read oil analysis results where Fuel Power and Lube control used in conjuction with synthetic oil gave amazing extended drain intervals. Even double what Amsoil recommends.
Fuel Power or F/P is used in the Gas Tank and L/C is added to the oil at 1 ounce per 1000 miles driven.
You can read all about additives here: http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/...?ubb=forum;f=5
Good fuel additves like PI and F/P enhance your engines combustion efficiency which means less fuel dilution into your oil. This also helps make your oil last longer.
Another effective oil treatment is www.auto-rx.com .

I have used MMO in the past. I used it mainly in older engines as an oil flush. Take a can of MMO and run it for 1K miles or so to clear sticking lifters and clean sludge.
I will caution you on using it though. In my industry, (oil systems for quick lubes and dealerships) we use air driven oil and grease pumps. Using MMO in the air motors will eat the rubber seals. Most air tool manufacures will also caution you on its use. Buna-N (common rubber used in o-rings and such) will swell and eventually brake down. It will act much like ATF will to the same materials. NOTE......MMO does make an air tool oil as well, and it is safe for air tools.
Now, your engine is a lot different than an air powered oil pump but I would not use for very long in the crankcase and would be conserviative in its use in your expensive fuel system.
Just my two cents worth.....

Go ahead and use it. As long as you are using it the directions tell you then all should be Ok. If you were to use a stronger concentration of it than the directions then you might see issues.
Like I said....I have see the damage done to air motors (in oil & grease pumps and tire machines) in my industry when people use MMO in them. It is not pretty. Of course it is good new to me. It makes for an expensive repair bill.
