Default ? on low range fourwheel drive

I have a 2500 cummins that i pull trailer with, and I have 355 rears in it high range reverse is to fast for backing our gooseneck around. I want to know if there is anything you can install on my truck so that my hubs will only lock in in 4 low when i need them to. You cant use 4 low to back and turn on dry surfaces its too hard on the drivetrain. I know that i can buy lock out hubs but im trying to see if there is a cheaper easier way it can be done thanks

You also should not use 4W Hi on dry pavement, for the same reason.

remove the front driveshaft and only install it when you need four wheel drive. PITA but cheap.
