Default swapping ram trans with dakota trans

need help with the linkage. i have a 98 ram 1500 V6 and swapping out with dakota same year trans, but the kick down is different. do i have to change the valve body? when i hooked up the linkage my gas pedal would not push down.

I think the dakota trans was a 42re, in which case that is a a much weaker trans then what your Ram came with (which probably was the 46re). Here is what the numbering means, and how you know it is weaker:

4 = 4 forward speeds
6 = strength of trans. (1-9, higher number, stronger trans.)
R = Rear wheel drive
H = Hydraulic controlled, E = Electronic controlled shift
