ticking noise in right front wheel
I have a ticking noise coming from the front right wheel on my 95 Ram. The ticking gets quicker as I speed up and slows down as I the truck does. So the ticking is in rhythm of the speed of the truck. Any thoughts on what is causing this?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I don't have any idea what it could be. I have jacked up the front end and the bearings are good which I thought might be making the noise. How big of deal is it to replace?
Not much help for you, but my '97 Ram had the same problem. Never did figure out the cause before I traded it in, it did it for about a year prior to trading and didn't cause any major problems but was annoying as hell.
Is this a 4x4? If so, I bet your front CV Joint is going out. It's either that or a rock in the tire treads. But I had this exact same problem, no rocks, and it was indeed a bad CV joint.
My truck is a 2 wheel drive by the way. I haven't checked to see if there is anything in the tire, but its worth a shot. Thanks for the replies.

It could be that.
Last summer I was coming home on Gratiot during the blackout when I suddenly started to get a clicking noise from the left front.
So I jacked it up and found an oil drain plug stuck in the tire.
I pulled that sucker out, and put in a plug.

Hey chaud, have you checked to see if something like a nail or a screw could be stuck in your tire?

Same thing happened to me...heard a ticking noise, checked out the front right tire, it was a GOLF TEE...[sm=smiley24.gif]
