condensation?

I have a new 2004 Q/C 4x4 with a Hemi.I removed the oil fill cap the other day and it had condensation in the cap is this normal? Would weather change cause this? I live in upstate NY. Thank you.

It's a very common problem during cold weather. This is caused by the design of the oil filler tube. The tube has a pcv valve at the rear, and it draws the blowby gases from the crank case. As these gases travel up the filler tube, they cool. The result is the deposits you see. This process is called emulsification.
