Default tranny noise

Love my '02 1500 QC, but i've always noticed a "whiring" sound in the 45RFE transmission when going from park into D or R.My wifes '03 Durango does the same thing?Never any problems, but with 36,000 miles on the horizon i thought i'd drop a line and see if anyone else has experienced this or if it is a sign of trouble. Any input is appreciated!

4.7 w/Tow package (Durango too)

Dunno, sounds like it's not a problem if it does it on both cars with under 36000 miles. If no one here can help ask the service tech at your local dealer.

Most Dodges make a sound when the tranny is shifted from P to R or D. It sounds like that is what you are discribing. My Stratus did it, my friends mini van and my Ram does it.
