Default Sport Bumper Question.

I currently have a 1997 Dodge Ram Reg Cab non-sport. I was wondering if a 1999 Dodge Ram Sport bumper will fit. Please let me know.

That might be something you would need to contact a Dodge dealer about. I don't see why it wouldn't fit, but I don't know if anything related to the chassis had changed between those years. If you call up a Dodge dealer, they should be able to look in the parts computer and compare numbers, and tell you what you would need to get the job done.

The bumper will fit but you might you will have to replace the piece behind the plastic to make it look right.

I have the SLT '02 with the standard chrome bumper. I went to the Dodge and looked at the parts book. Looks like I would have to get a couple of brackets and new bumper. he guessed it be about $1000 to convert it all over: bumper cover, brackets, bumper.

On the '97, yes you can convert to the 99 sport bumper but you need to buy the sub bumper, the bumper cover, bumper brackets and the sport grill. The regular grill looks weird witht he sport bumper and I dont know if actually fits.

the bumpers are the same, brackets same everything same, the dealer will tell you this and that to buy to make it work. They LIE! I've worked in the used parts business for years and seen many come in! Nothin different but chrome or paint!

If your truck has the factory installed tow hooks, they will get in the way. The sport bumper is about an inch or 2 lower than the stock bumper. So, you will have to trim out some room for the hooks if you have them.
