I have a 1998 2500 Ram Canadian built truck. The fuse for the DRL blew so I replaced it. Blew again. Saw smoke by the relay under the master cylinder so I pulled fuse. Couldn't find a short so I replaced fuse again and now only have headlights if I hold the dimmer switch back. Neither low beam or high beam work unless you hold dimmer switch back manually.


Could this be a bad DLR relay or dimmer switch or something else?

 

did you see what smoked? Might have been a wire burned in 2, might have been the relay. There had to be something wrong to pop the fuse, something drawing a ton of current. See where the power stops (I'd start at the relay since that's where you had smoke) you'll want a wiring diagram as well
