Default gas guage

It seems like my gas guage isn't working right. When it showed it was at half it took twenty gallons. I was wondering if anyone had the same problem. I have a 1998 Ram 1500 4x4.

My 96 has the same problem. I think the fuel pump is bad now, I checked the shutdown and fuel pump relays and they checked ok. I think the sending unit for the fuel guage comes with the pump. According everything I've been told or read the pump, pressure regulator, filter, and sending unit is combined.[sm=smiley21.gif]

Well I am pretty sure it is just a characteristic of Rams...My friends 2000 S/C Ram 318, My dad's (I wish it was mine...I talked him into it so it should be mine right?) 2004 2500 HEMI Q/C SLT 4X4 , and my 2001 Ram Q/C 318 SLT Lariame all do the same thing. Takes forever to start going down from Full and then drops like a rock...and when my low fuel light comes on I still have around 3.5 gallons of gas left. Hope this helps.
