Default Gearing question..

I just put the Fabtech 6" lift and 35" tires on my '02 Quadcab SB 2wd. I also installed the Volant CAI as well. My problem is with the 3:55 gearing, on the freeway, I can't keep the thing in O/D. It keeps downshifting into 3rd and the CAI starts howling! Man is that thing loud...lol. Will the Hypertech programmer fix this issue or is regearing the rearend the way to go? I'm also curious, the best speed I could get it to stay in O/D was approx 75 at 2000 rpm before it bogged down and downshifted. What rpm is normal at 75mph in O/D with stock 17" wheels and tires? I shoulda checked this before changing them.

I would throw 4.10's in there, 3.73's are too mild and most likely you will have the same problem. The power programmer will not do a thing for that problem. I dont know if I would even recomend buying one.

It was 199.99 for the 4.10 gear kit, 100.99 for the 9.25 Master Kit, 161.00 for labor, and 50.00 for tax and shop fees. I got OTD for about $500 I guess.

I would get those 3.55's out of there as soon as possible. You need taller gears for those 35's. Low end power will increase nicely. 3.55's will eventually wear prematurely turning those big azz tires
