Default Ram 3500 Dualy; Tire Options?

Hello,

This is my first post and although I'm sure this has come up before I didn't have any luck doing a forum search.

I have a 2004 Ram 3500 4x4 dual-rear-wheel (my first dualy) and it's time for new rubber. The stock tires are Goodyear Wrangler GS-A, 235/80-R17. I work in the oilfield and would really like a more aggressive tire as I'm in the mud quite a bit, but as I look around I'm realizing just how limited the selection is for tires that will fit the dualy.

Does anyone have any advice on a more aggressive shoe that will fit this truck?

Thanks in advance - this forum looks like a great resource.

Where have you tried looking so far? And where are you located?

Discount tire says these fit your truck: Wrangler MTR's .....that would look badass on a dually, plenty aggressive for your mudding needs.

Here's an option for you...

Ross, the MTR's look awesome, but I'm pretty sure they're too wide. Discount tire does not seem to have a dually option in their vehicle search.

Roscoe, I've considered going with the 19.5" rims, but for now I don't really want to spend the money and I need rubber pretty quick. I've got a lot of mileage on my current shoes and it's starting to feel like winter up here.

I found these today, the Cooper Discoverer ST. I read a couple good reviews online, does anyone have any experience with this tire?

Goodyears suck. So do those coopers, BUT the coopers are cheaper so at least you wouldnt be paying a high price for a fast wearing tire like the goodyears. Look into BFGoodrich which is made by michelin. Check out consumer reports. Michelin leads the way.

How do the coopers suck? Have you found them to be fast wearing? My stock Goodyears were pretty good, they've given me 57,000 miles with no problems. I'd run them again, but I'd like something more aggressive.

BF Goodrich does not make a tire that will fit my truck.

Yeah that sucks that BFG doesnt have tires in your size yet. Thats become to be a bit of a problem recently with all the different rim sizes coming out. used to be 12,13,14,15.......then mostly 14,15, then 14,15,16......now its 16,17,18,20. I've gotten 60,000 plus out of their all terrian tires.
