What tires do you have?
4WD?
Do you haul stuff?
Driving below 2K may help, but not significantly. Just rotate them and keep them properly inflated and you will be OK.

Keeping it under 2K RPM won't really have any effect on your tire wear. To get the longest life out of your tires:
1. Don't take off too hard from stops
2. Try to stop more gradually
3. Check your tire pressures more than twice a year (Seriously... adjust them to what your owners manual says they should be at.)
4. Don't drive like Dale Jr. into every corner
5. Consider getting an alignment about once a year.
6. Get your tires rotated AND balanced every 6-10K miles
My truck has the original Goodyear Wranglers on it... and I'm just over 59,000 miles. Mos of those miles were highway (which helps a lot). Ya just have to keep everything in check...
