Default Installing Westin Signature Series Step Bars

Hi everyone...just wanted to post a few notes on my recent installation of my new Westin Signature Series Step Bars (25-0685).

I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with a custom Superlift suspension lift. The lift is high enough that my wife and friends had a hard time getting in and out of the truck...so, I bought and installed step bars.

The official "ease of installation" scale for these step bars is 3 out of 10, which means it's not the easiest thing to do, but it's not real hard either. On my scale, I'd say it's a 1.5 - 2 out of 10. All you need are the right tools and you're already half done (torque wrench, metric sockets, regular socket set, wratchet extension bar, drill).

I had never installed step bars before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I had both sides done in under 45 minutes.

They look VERY sharp and I am impressed with the quality of the step bars. Westin makes a fine product. If you have any questions, I can take some pictures of the installation parts and send them to you.

Looks good, how much lift do you have?

Glad to see your post. I'm considering getting the stainless version soon. I'm 6'1", and I have to "hop" a little to get into my truck, so I don't imagine it would be any easier on others. Just out of curiosity, what did you have to drill?

There are two self-drilling screws that you install in the top of the front and rear brackets...there's no real drilling required.

I have the Chrome Platinum version of the Westin steps bars on my 01' and have not had any problems with them. I installed them about 4 years ago and use them everyday to get into my truck. I am a big guy too and can flat out stand on them without any worries. They have not rusted or discolored in anyway, even with all the punishment of road salt in the winter.

Also since you have the same truck as me, they will look really great...

alim240... Do you happen to have any pictures of them on your truck? I'd really like to see what they'd look like.

I should if not I can easily take some. I won't be able to post them until Thursday.

Hi Ratchet,

As soon as I get my truck back from the shop, I'll take a bunch of pictures and post them for you. I'm having all of the dents, dings, scratches, etc. fixed and painted. I just dropped it off today and it's going to take a week or two.
