2004 Ram 1500 Replacing Spring Leaf
I owned a 2004 Ram 1500, Quad, 4x4, 5-.7 liter with a Hemi. I noticed that when I tow my camper the back of the truck sags more than 2 inches. I took the truck to the camping dealer to adjust the weight distribution unit. The technician attempted to shift the weight from the back of the truck to the front of the truck with some success. His recommendationn is to add a new spring leaf. I called a garage that can add an additional spring leaf. The leaf wil give me another 600 lbs of towing. I am towing a 5200lbs camping trailer in the back of the truck. Total weight is no more than 7500lbs. Is that a good suggestion to add a spring leaf, the garage told me if I want I can add 2 leafs. Suggestions? Is this a good idea, by the way I was told that the shocks are not the problem. Thank you for any assistance you can provide to me.

There are "helper bags". They are smaller versions of the "air ride" bags found on semi's. They are also know as Firestone bags. I found them at J.C. Whitney for $243. The nice thing about them is that you can fully adjust the ride height depending on the weight towed.
